Food Assistance
While you may be preoccupied with paying your landlord and getting those bills paid, food comes first. Without it, your family won’t survive, and two primary programs offer food assistance to those in need.
The first is SNAP or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Known to many as food stamps, SNAP gives you money every month to buy healthy groceries. Just swipe your EBT card at a participating store, and you’ll be good to go.

Tax Forgiveness
We know how challenging it can be to pay off your tax debt.
The IRS just announced the 2023 Fresh Start Program, to qualify more people for tax relief!
Qualifying for SNAP depends on income and other requirements. To learn more and apply, go here.
Another popular food assistance program from the government is WIC. It helps women, infants, and children get the nutrition they need via foods like milk, fruits, vegetables, cereal, formula, and more.
WIC eligibility depends on income and is reserved for pregnant or breastfeeding women, plus any children under five. To learn more about WIC so you can apply, visit this link.
Housing Assistance
With food taken care of, your next significant need is shelter. The Section 8 program can help pay a large portion of your rent to make it more affordable. You can then use the rest of your income to take care of other bills or build an emergency fund.
Contrary to popular belief, receiving Section 8 assistance won’t restrict you to living in public housing. Instead, you can pick where you want to live, whether it’s a single-family home, apartment, or townhouse.
If you don’t want to rent anymore and dream of owning a home, the government could help there as well.

Financial Assistance
Although many know you can get help from the government with food and housing, they’re unaware of TANF. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families helps people get back on their feet with monthly cash payments. Childcare Assistance
Having kids may seem like a huge obstacle to finding employment since childcare is so expensive. Luckily, the government offers childcare assistance via multiple programs.
If you have children under five, you can use the Head Start program to prepare them for school while also receiving free healthcare, nutritious meals, and more. You can also find additional childcare resources from the government by going here.
